Anxiety is characterized by feelings of worry, anxiety, or fear that are strong enough to interfere with one’s daily activities. Anxiety disorders include panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Symptoms include stress that’s out of proportion to the impact of the event, inability to set aside a worry, and restlessness. Anxiety is a common disorder that affects approximately 3 million people a year.
Common Anxiety Signs and Symptoms Include:
- Feeling nervous, restless or tense
- Having a sense of impending danger, panic or doom

- Breathing rapidly (hyperventilation)
- Sweating
- Trembling
- Feeling weak or tired

- Reduce caffeine intake
- Physical exercise
- Quitting smoking
- Relaxation techniques
- Stress management
- A diet that provides essential nutrients and adequate calories, while avoiding excess sugar, carbohydrates, and fatty foods
Recommended therapies include medications, cognitive behavioral therapy, meditation, and psychotherapy.
